Increase access to Health Care

A great deal of SC Senate district 15 is fairly rural and the more populated regions press against Charlotte, leaning on NC resources to provide healthcare. I have found with the needs of my own family, access to good healthcare within York County is lacking. I fear that the more rural communities of this district (and really statewide) face significant challenges in accessing quality healthcare services, which can lead to poorer health outcomes. To address this, my goals as a state senator would be to advocate for:

Increased Access to Facilities

It’s essential to establish more healthcare facilities or mobile clinics in rural areas to ensure that residents have timely access to medical care. Especially for access to critical medical event care.

Improved Grants for Rural Doctors

Providing better financial incentives and grants for doctors who choose to practice in rural areas can help attract and retain skilled healthcare professionals. This support can cover student loan forgiveness, housing subsidies, and competitive salaries.

Expanded Medicare for the Disabled and Children

Expanding Medicare coverage to include more comprehensive services for disabled individuals and children in rural areas is crucial. This ensures that vulnerable populations receive the care they need without the burden of excessive costs.
